Amuneke makes good start with Flying Eagles

FIFA U-17 World Cup winning coach, Emmanuel Amuneke started his reign as Flying Eagles coach on a good note yesterday as Nigeria defeated Burundi 1-0 away in a 2017 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations second round , first leg encounter in Bujumbura . Chukwudi Agor scored the only goal of the match in the 64th minute. The Flying Eagles are made up largely of the players with which Amuneke conquered the world last year in Chile at the U-17 level. Agency reports monitored in Lagos disclosed that Flying Eagles dominated yesterday’s game on all fronts at the Stade Prince Louis Rwagasore. Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) official, Sunday Okayi told thenff.com that the reigning African champions played against ‘grown men’ and had to rely on skill and technical superiority to keep the hosts in check. The second leg will be played in the southern coastal town of Calabar next month with the overall winners squaring up with Sudan for a place in the tournament proper in Zambia next year. The Flying Eagles delegation is expected back in the country tomorrow.
